+ Abagail Slater // Marigold Capital

Abigail has over 20 years of experience in concept development and creative strategic thinking, developing, executing, and managing of start-up foodservice operations. Currently, she is General Partner at Marigold Capital Fund, a private impact investment fund focused on gender lens investing.

In addition to mentoring and advising entrepreneurs she is former chair of SheEO Canada Fund’s Radical Generosity initiative. Abigail works with entrepreneurs both individually and collectively through the SheEO Activator network and is working to change the way capital is allocated and distributed. Her current work in the charitable sector focuses on governance for organizations promoting social justice, gender equity, diversity and inclusion, whether through entrepreneurship and innovation as a board member of Venture for Canada (Treasurer), food justice and food security at Foodshare where she served for 7 years, or more recently as a returning Governor of Centennial College, where she has participated on the Learning and Engagement Committee, as well as currently serving as Chair of the Policy and Procedures Committee. She also sits on the Sinai Health Foundation Innovation Committee, Abigail is the very proud recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal in 2014 for the work she and her sister have done in the charitable sector.

She graduated from Smith College with a BA in Economics and Schulich School of Business with an MBA.

Baron is the founder of Per Se Brand Experience, a brand consultancy focused on helping organizations reach, relate and grow successfully and sustainably. Baron founded and chaired the Canadian Marketing Association’s 2013 and 2014 Content Marketing conferences, along with the 2015 Canadian Creative Conference. He co-authored the CMA Paper on Content Marketing and developed the Canadian Content Strategy course program. He is an active industry mentor and supporter.

Dorothy is a serial entrepreneur, published author and speaker. She is the founder of Imaginal Ventures Inc and The Purpose Led Business School. She helps entrepreneurs stay connected to their purpose while they scale their small and medium sized businesses as a force for good. Dorothy’s twenty-year experience as a skilled Business and Leadership Advisor has helped SME’s catalyze profitability and asset growth. Her work with scaling purpose-led businesses through building supporting structures, procedures and workflow systems has gained notoriety in the entrepreneurial community. As the Canadian coach for SheEO, Top CEO Award recipient, Innovation Award and Professional Engineers Service Award recipient, Spence has been recognized for her innovation and leadership.

+Judy Brooks// Chair (FWE), Entrepreneur

Judy Brooks has founded, built and successfully sold 3 companies over the last 28 years. She has a reputation for strategically building international businesses, fiscally responsible companies, dynamic teams, and impressive brands and cultures.

Since exiting her last venture and for the last 8 years, Judy has worked with CEO Founders, Partners, Boards & Senior teams to bring clarity and leader development in high transition times (mergers, acquisitions, and strategic changes). Judy is known for her ability to lead clear conversations that shift outcomes.

A well-known presenter and mentor in the business community, Judy co-created Brew (a leadership retreat) for those wanting to lead mindfully and with self-reflection. Judy serves on the Board of Directors for FWE and is a past Board member for Small Business BC. She is also a past Advisory Board Member for The Smart Cookies, Nurse Next Door, YYoga and Young Women in Business amongst others.

Judy has been honoured with the Business in Vancouver Women of Influence Award and the Vancouver Board of Trade Mentor Award.

Joanna Track is the founder and Editor-in-Chief of The Bullet, Canada’s online destination for a quick shot of daily news. She’s also the co-founder of Good Eggs & Co., a consultancy dedicated to helping brands hatch new ideas to build their businesses. She is also known for her prior entrepreneurial pursuits, and eLUXE, two of Canada’s most well-known online destinations for women. Joanna has over 20 years of experience in marketing, business strategy, branding and advertising. After earning a BA in Mathematics at the University of Western Ontario and an MBA in Finance at the Schulich School of Business, she has become one of the most well-known and respected digital entrepreneurs in Canada

+ Lori Track // Torstar

Lori began her career as a corporate lawyer, working in a variety of industries including marketing and communications, retail services and financial services. Then, after 12 years in the corporate world, she made an entrepreneurial leap to become the General Manager and Publisher of Sweetspot, where she managed operations across a number of departments including editorial, sales, marketing and technology. In 2012, Lori took on the role of COO for eLUXE, a contemporary fashion e-commerce property that also produced a weekly digital magazine. From there, in 2016, she joined Hometrics as COO; Hometrics is a real estate solutions provider that uses algorithms in order to rank, rate and analyze homes in the Toronto area. In 2018, Lori made the move to Torstar as the Head of Torstar Real Estate & Automotive. In her current role, she oversees the real estate and automotive vertical strategies to drive revenue, as well as the product and content roadmaps, for both print and digital solutions across the company.

(Unlikely) cleaning expert, Melissa Maker, is host of the CleanMySpace YouTube channel, founder of Clean My Space, a housekeeping service based in Toronto and best selling author of Clean My Space: The Secret to Cleaning Better, Faster and Loving your Home Every Day. She works with brands such as Scotch-Brite, Dyson, Best Buy, Home Depot and more. Most notably, she hates cleaning.

Sharon Zohar is a serial entrepreneur and investor with more than twenty years experience founding, investing, advising, and operating technology, internet, and digital media companies. She is driven by her passion to identify new innovative technologies and business models that have the potential to disrupt traditional markets and are designed to improve the human condition.

As founder and CEO of the Big Push, an all-women led business accelerator, Sharon has developed a unique “Service for Equity” business model dedicated to accelerating the growth of women-led start-ups and prepare them for Series A financing. She leads a diverse group of professionals with years of experience in the areas of finance, design, law, technology, research, sales, and marketing dedicated to supplementing women founders’ own expertise during the critical startup phase.

+ Sophia Maizel // HarbourVest Partners

Ms. Sophia Maizel joined HarbourVest in 2015 to help expand the Firm’s local presence in Canada. Responsible for launching one of the largest private equity firms in the Canadian market, she focuses on sourcing, reviewing, executing, monitoring, and reporting on direct co-investments and partnerships.

Sophia has been involved with several of the Firm’s direct co-investments and helps manage HarbourVest’s $375M North American venture and growth equity fund. She also serves on the Young Professionals’ Committee of the Canadian Venture Capital Association, is an active mentor for founders, and volunteers with an organization called Woodgreen to help newcomers to Canada professionally integrate in the market.

+ Stacy Irvine // Totum Life Science

Dr. Stacy Irvine is a founder and co-owner of Totum Life Science, a boutique fitness and sports medicine company based in Toronto. Through her work as a public speaker, chiropractor and strength and conditioning specialist, Dr. Irvine’s clientele ranges from beginners to elite and professional athletes.

Dr. Irvine can be seen regularly as a health and fitness expert on Cityline, and Breakfast Television and she is frequently quoted as fitness expert in several Canadian media publications. Dr. Irvine is dedicated to improving the fitness and health of as many Canadian children as possible, including her own. The inspiration from these young athletes along with her fantastic team at Totum provide an environment of constant learning and growth in a rapidly changing industry…..her occasional periods of downtime will most often be spent in nature hiking with her dog, or hopefully on a beach with her family, camping in their Airstream trailer.

As a speaker on Mentorship, Trish knows that sharing stories creates an environment of business innovation and collaboration that supports effective leadership.

With a certificate in Mediation and Dispute Resolution from Harvard Law School Negotiation Institute, certificate in Emotional Intelligence and a BA in Labour Studies from McMaster University she works with entrepreneurs and leadership teams shaping organizational culture.

She is a Master Coach Practitioner and Coach Trainer with the Certifed Coaches Federation.
